Something Kinda Techy

This site is not for anyone under 18. Highly NSFW, you have ben warned.

The MP3 feed will no longer contain episodes with the intro, or any bumpers for other shows, it will only have the show as it was recorded on talkshoe.com.  The OGG feed on the other hand will continue to be the same, actually I take that back, I will be improving the OGG feed, I plan on also having a backup feed on archive.org.

Listen live here, consume, enjoy, and send me some feedback.

I have decided to give this a go, yes that’s supposed to be Threethirty on the right and me on the left.  I keep getting bored and drawing little stick figure comics on pieces of paper around my apartment and I figured why not put them up on here?  Who knows people may enjoy my brand of humor.

I would first like to say that I am sorry to my listeners for my lack of updates and lack of podcast episodes. Secondly I would like to thank threethirty for keeping this blog alive and making sure people know I’m not dead. So in short the reason I have not been doing podcasts or updating the site is because of a woman I was dating. Sorry everyone but at the time sex was more important. But the good news is that the podcast will be back on hopefully by Tuesday at the regular time of 9pm EST. The cable guy is coming friday so I will have the weekend to work on my computer and to put Arch back on it. I recently put Slackware 13 on it and I’m not digging it much. Thanks guys and gals who have inquired about me and called to see if I was still in the realm of the living. I will see you all this Tuesday!

Those of you testing out the development version of Ubuntu Lucid should notice a change in Firefox very soon. The default search provider for new installations of Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) and upgrades will be Yahoo! and not Google. Canonical have struck a revenue sharing deal with Yahoo! which generates income for the company. This revenue should help pay the wages of Ubuntu Developers employed by Canonical, and support the infrastructure required to develop and build the distribution.

Recently the United States Air Force submitted a formal public request to purchase more than two thousand PlayStation 3 consoles for military use. Many have wondered how the USAF plans to utilize the large number of PlayStation 3 systems as well as what purpose they have over standard computers and supercomputers. The USAF has opened up and unveiled some public documents to let the public know exactly why the United States military has chosen the PlayStation 3.

According to the Justification Review Document written by the USAF, the PlayStation 3 is a much cheaper alternative to other options. The JRD states the following:

With respect to cell processors, a single 1U server configured with two 3.2GHz cell processors can cost up to $8K while two Sony PS3s cost approximately $600.

As seen in the above image, the USAF is already utilizing Linux on 336 PS3 consoles within a server cluster. These PlayStation 3 consoles are intended to provide massive mathematical calculations to assist in research for urban surveillance purposes. At this point it’s only at an experimental stage, but the USAF has already planned to purchase more than 2,000 more consoles to add to the cluster.

An interesting side note is that the USAF tested chips from Intel and IBM but found the Cell processor within the PlayStation 3 to be the most price efficient. At any rate, while the Cell processor has been under critical evaluation since the PlayStation 3’s inception, it has done a great job amidst the harsh criticism with the cancer curing Folding@Home and now United States military surveillance.

Now this does beg to question, what exactly are they doing with all the controllers?

Police in the UK are planning to use unmanned spy drones, controversially deployed in Afghanistan, for the ”routine” monitoring of antisocial motorists, protesters, agricultural thieves and fly-tippers, in a significant expansion of covert state surveillance.

Documents from the South Coast Partnership, a Home Office-backed project in which Kent police and others are developing a national drone plan with BAE, have been obtained by the Guardian under the Freedom of Information Act.

They reveal the partnership intends to begin using the drones in time for the 2012 Olympics. They also indicate that police claims that the technology will be used for maritime surveillance fall well short of their intended use – which could span a range of police activity – and that officers have talked about selling the surveillance data to private companies. A prototype drone equipped with high-powered cameras and sensors is set to take to the skies for test flights later this year.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell is problem UK! 1984 was **NOT** supposed to be an instruction manual!!! I can’t even find any kind of intellegent argument against this because is to stupid.

A federal judge on Friday reduced a $1.92 million file sharing verdict to $54,000 after concluding the award for infringing 24 songs was “shocking.”

A federal jury in June found Jammie Thomas-Rasset liable in what at the time was the nation’s only Recording Industry Association of America file sharing case against an individual to go to trial. The Minnesota federal jury dinged her $1.92 million for infringing 24 songs. She asked the judge to set aside or reduce that $80,000 per song in damages.

U.S. District Judge Michael Davis agreed on Friday, and said the RIAA may have a retrial if it does not accept his ruling.

Really **THAT’S** what you find unnessiasry what about the fact that they can’t prove anyone downloaded anything!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
